As proud sponsors of Flintham Cricket Club, we are delighted to celebrate their achievements this year. The club has not only performed admirably on the field but has also strengthened its role as a vital hub for the local community. 2024 was a milestone year for the Flintham first team, which retained its position in Division A of the South Notts Cricket League. Securing a creditable 5th place finish at their first attempt was no small feat, reflecting their dedication and skill. Additionally, the Second XI achieved a promotion and is set to play in Division L next season.
The junior section is thriving, with more boys and girls joining every week. Whether it’s the buzz of Friday night sessions or individual practice in the nets, it’s wonderful to see the next generation embracing the sport.
Flintham Cricket Club also proved to be a fantastic host for Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, organizing eight girls’ and women’s county matches, as well as a boys’ match. These events showcase the club’s commitment to promoting cricket at all levels, offering opportunities for players to shine and for the community to witness cricket’s inclusivity and reach.
Beyond cricket, Flintham Cricket Club made significant strides off the field. A major refurbishment of the pavilion’s social space now provides a year-round facility for the village. This initiative highlights the club’s role as a cornerstone of the rural community. Support from Rushcliffe Borough Council and the ECB through meaningful grants underscored the importance of these efforts in areas that are often overlooked.
Running a community club is no easy task, and Flintham’s ability to break even in 2024 is a remarkable achievement. This was made possible by the club’s hardworking volunteers, whose dedication keeps the club thriving despite the rising costs of increased activity.
